Benefit Balms

I have always been a little nervous on using Benefit's tints.  The thought of using a "stain" on my cheeks and lips has me running for a hot wash cloth!  Maybe I just need to break down and try it one time.  However, for now I'll stick to their lip balms.   I was so excited when these were first introduced.  I received a sample of the Posie Balm in my July Birchbox and fell in love with it!

First things first....The packaging is so adorable! These balms leave your lips feeling hydrated and have just a light tint of color. I mainly purchased a full size of the Bene-Balm, based on the light red tint it gave off.  I was a little scared at first of the red, but after doing a few swatches of it on my hand, I noticed that it just had a red sheen to it.

The balms come in 4 colors-Bene balm, Posie balm. Lolli balm, and Cha Cha balm.
They are totally worth the money and I would recommend them to anyone...based on the packaging alone.....Then again, I would recommend any Benefit products!

Birchbox + The EveryGirl

Two of my favorite websites coming together to produce an awesome product...of course I would get it!

The first day that Birchbox announced that they would be having a box with the website The Everygirl, I jumped right on it to get it.  However, there was such high traffic on the sit,e that I wasn't able to secure a box. I send Birchbox a tweet to let them know how bummed I was.  If you didn't already know, Birchbox has a great customer service department and I was able to get The EveryGirl box at the last min. (plus another box, since they didn't send me the right one).

I am totally in love with this box! It came with 5 products.

Number 4-Super Comb Prep & Protect
Benefit-They're Real! Push-Up Liner
Acure Organics-brightening Facial Scrub
Harvey Prince-Hello Perfume
Not Soap, Radio-Happiness Inducing Body Wash

For once I will be using all the products  in this box.  My favorite is by far the Harvey Prince-Hello perfume!

What is your favorite product in the box? If you didn't get the EveryGirl box this month-what was in your box?

Happy 'Birchboxing' my friends!

Birchbloggers-Book Review: The Vacationers

I recently received the opportunity from Birchbox to review the book, The Vacationers by Emma Straub for their June Book Club. This is by far the best book I've read in a while. There were many parts that took me by surprise and made me wanting more. Typically it takes me a while to to finish a novel, but this is one I couldn't put down.

The book follows a family and their friends on a two-week vacation that celebrates several occasions.  There are a handful of characters in the story, however it's not hard to follow their stories and makes you feel a part of their lives.  The characters have their own flair and each bring a dynamic part to the read.

This book offers;  humor, drama, advice and even a little sexual escapades that leaves you not wanting the story to end.

If you are looking for a quick summer read, I recommend this book hands down!  Looking forward to July's book, The Bridesmaids, which I will also be reviewing.

Empties

Over the past several months I have used various products up-makeup all the way to food....

Here is what I'm digging at the moment.....

Makeup:

Can't get enough of Covergirl's- Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation.  I have purchased this product a few times over and talked about it a few times. I'm in the shade Classic Ivory.  This is by far the best foundation out there. It provides the best coverage ever. (covers up dark spots).   I love the fact that it has a pump-for easy application.  The only downfall to this product, is that there is always product that is still left in the bottle, that won't pump out.

Tip: Use a Beauty Blender to apply

Marc Jacobs Lip Lock in Makeout is a great moisturizing balm. I purchased this product at Sephora twice now.  However, the second one that I purchased online has a weird texture and it's almost like it had melted once.  I will be purchasing it again, since the first one I had was just fine. It has very sleek packaging and doesn't even feel that it's just a balm.  Totally worth the money!

I have VERY long days at work and always want my makeup lasting the entire day, if not even longer.  I have been using Urban Decay's All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray for over a year now and couldn't be happier with the results.  It feels light enough on your face that you don't feel you are adding an extra layer. I haven't found any other brands who have comparable products. I recently picked up a duo set at Ulta of a full size bottle and a travel size one.  It was a great value.

Now what do I use to get rid of all that makeup at night???  Clean & Clears-Night Calming Makeup Remover Wipes.   Now when I first saw these advertised I thought, I don't have acne, I don't need to use Clean & Clear products.  Boy was I wrong!  I am completely obsessed with these wipes. Not only do they make my face feeling clean, they actually take a away almost all, if not ALL of my face makeup. This is another product that I'll be buying for a long, long time.

Just like you, I try out a lot of different shower gels.  While watching oodles amount of Youtube videos I came across the brand-Love & Toast.  This brand can be found at Ulta.  They have the best shower gel by far.  My favorite scent and actually the only one that I have tired is- Sugar Grapefruit. Another added bonus from this product is the cute packaging.

Health:

I will have to admit I'm not the healthiest person in the world.  With that being said at age 30, I decided to start taking a multi vitamin and what could be better than incorporating gummy like candy into that!  I picked up the Vita Fusion brand at Target and couldn't be more pleased with how they taste.  I have also notice my energy level during the day pick up.....so they actually do work :)

Junk Food: Now that's fitting after the health section :)

I"m a sucker for a good cookie and when I saw these two cookies in the store I knew I had to try them.  Now, the mint one wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but still fab.  However, the Peanut Butter Cup Oreo is amazing!  My only suggestion would be to use the actual peanut butter that they use in the peanut butter cups. Both are still fab and would repurchase in a heart beat.

Hope you enjoyed my favorite empties.  What kind of products have you guys been loving?  Any suggestions?

Influenster VowVoxBox Review

Once again the company Influenster has given me the opportunity to review a voxbox.  The newest theme-vowvoxbox.  Now, I was a little confused on why I received this box, since I'm not getting married or even attending a wedding any time soon. However, the products that I received in this box can be used on any occasion.

If you don't know what Influenster is. It's a company who provides users the chance to review up and coming products based on surveys you complete. Become an Influenster today!

So, are you curious on what was included in this box?  Here goes nothing!

By far my favorite product in this box was the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polish in Barracuda. It's the perfect blue shade and I can't wait to sport this color this summer. The wand/brush of this polish is something that I have never seen before in any of the polishes that I have used. It's more of a flat, wide brush and you really have control over it. Love!

Just recently I have noticed more and more dark spots on my face.  I call them age spots...either way I want them gone.  It's a curse that has been passed down from my Grandma and as much as I want to embrace them, I just can't.  Looking forward to trying out the Olay Regenerist Luminous tone Perfecting Cream. I was shocked to receive a full size of this product, knowing the retail value of it.

I have been looking for a new shaving cream, since the last one I bought from Birchbox was way over priced and not worth it at all.  I have heard of Pure Silk before-a pretty cheap brand you can get at the drug store. I would have to say it did a much better job than my fancy-high end one that I had before.  I also loved the Raspberry scent.

Who could go without a Tide-to-Go pen?  Am I right, ladies!?!  I have had several of these before and do they ever work well! So glad I received one in this box. Can't say enough about this product.

Last, but not least an EcoTools Pure Complexion sponge.  I wasn't sure what this was at first.  The texture of it kind of scared me, due to the fact that it even said it was for sensitive skin. However, I couldn't believe how soft this sponge got and how bouncy it was. I think I'm going to start using it in the shower with my morning scrub.

One extra thing that was in the box was a card to the website Riley & Grey (I had never heard of this site before) however, it looks like they offer websites for weddings.  On these websites you can organize the guest lists, addresses, collect RSVP's and more. They also provide you with a 50% off code.  Not sure how much the sites cost, but I won't be using that anytime soon....or maybe I will :)

Overall, these were some great products.  I highly recommend them all. This VoxBox was a lot better than the first one I received a few months ago. I will actually get use out of these products.

Thanks again +Influenster

Your Closet On Display

Have you ever just come to the conclusion that you have officially run out of space in your closet?  I have lived in my apartment for over 6 years and without a lot of storage space - everything ends up in my closet.  I only have 1 bar and shelves on one side and no dresser. So, what's a girl to do?!?!

While searching the aisles of Target to find a solution, I came across a clothes rack, that unfortunately would not fit in my closet, but I could put in the corner of my room with my favorite pieces on display. It took some time to get used to, since I don't have a lot of space in my room, but so far I am loving it!

Instead of using my normal plastic hangers.  I picked up some really cute teal "huggable" hangers, which gives it more of a classy look.

I used the ends of the rack to display my higher end handbags, shopping bags and hats.  I also put my favorite shoes at the bottom.

Let me know some other ways you display your fashion items.

Classy Kitchen Tool

Yesterday I was at the mall with a few of my girlfriends and stopped into my favorite store, Francesca's.
What I'm going to show you next is one of the best things, hands down I've ever seen in kitchen tools out there....

This would make a great serving piece for a cheese board (my go-to party app!).  I have it proudly displayed on my counter, as we speak.

I have found similar ones on Pinterest, but have never seen them in stores before now. Does anyone know of any other fabulous kitchen decor/tools out there?

Happy Entertaining!

Birchbox Special Box: Modern Mermaid

Summer is upon us and what better way to spend it by using some summery products!  Birchbox has put together an awesome special box to have you "swimming" through summer.

Once in a while Birchbox puts together a limited edition box for a season, holiday or other special occasion.  I normally don't get sucked into boxes like this, since there are normally only 1 or 2 things that catch my eye.  However, in this box EVERYTHING caught my eye!

This box is still available for purchase in the Birchbox store, so check it out!

The following products are essential for a perfect summer...

Looking to spend a lot of time in the pool or local lakes-You cannot forget to apply Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Genius Waterproof Topcoat prior to taking a dip!

The summer sun (whether it's out in full force or not) can burn areas, that you didn't even know were possible!  Protect those lippies with Coola's Liplux SPF 30 Original Formula.  This lip product doesn't feel like sunscreen on your lips at all.  Provides a light moisture, however don't forget to re-apply throughout the day!

Summertime is the time to go wild with your makeup and try vibrate colors you typically don't wear. Vasanti's Kajal Extreme Intense Eye Pencil in Electric Navy will provide your eyes with a mermaidesqe feel.  This waterproof eyeliner even has a sharpener on the cap for easy on the go application.

I don't know about you, but I love the way my hair looks and smells after being out in the sun or on the beach for a day.  Captain Blankenship's Mermaid Mane Sea Salt Spray provides just that.  This 2oz spray will provide just that and bringing back great memories of that perfect summer day.

Besides a colorful swimming suit, nothing says summer to me than colorful nails!  Ruffian has exclusively created a trio of colors for this box.  The Endless summer Collection sports colors such as, Endless Love, Blue Lagoon and Sahara.  Not sure which one to pick first!

After a day out in the sun, nothing is better than freshening up prior to going out at night.  Atelier Cedrat Enivrant Cologne Absolue Travel Spray.  This spray has a hint of lime, juniper and mint (my favorite).

Finally, you might be wondering how can I sport a lot of these products
without a mirror?!?!?  Have no fear!  Birchbox always remembers the fine details.  Stephanie Johnson has designed a "Mermaid Pocket Mirror" exclusively for Birchbox. This may be my favorite part of the box!

Hope everyone has a fab summer and what are some of the products you are using this time of year?

Lipstick, Lip Balm, Chapstick, Lippies.....Call It What You Want!

Lip products have always been my go-to beauty product for as long as I can remember.  Your lips are one of the first thing that most people notice (or maybe just guys do), however you always want them looking fresh.

Recently I have been getting into tinted lip products.  I have never really been a fan of standard lipstick, however lip crayons and tinted balms are so simple to put on and bring moisture and a hint of color.

I have a wide range of favorite lip products that I can not live without.  Some I have been using for a long time, others just a few weeks.

Here are my top 5 lip products that I absolutely in love with.

#1- Marc Jacobs Makeout LipLock
I have talked about this product before.  Can't say enough about it.  Provides great moisture for the harsh Midwest winters and is very long lasting.  It is more on the pricey side, but well worth it!

#2 CoverGirl LipSlicks Smoochies in #Luv u
Provides moisture and a hint of color.  Even though I feel like I go through this alot and the color really doesn't stay for a long period of time.  It's cheap enough that I feel like I'm getting my monies worth.

#3 Fresh Sugar in Rose
This is a tinted lip treatment with SPF 15   It's been a while since I've used this one, but it's still one that I would always go back to.  It's got a nice lemony scent to it that makes your lips feel "fresh".

#4 Nivea A Kiss of Olive Oil & Lemon
Other than providing moisture, it doesn't really do too much else. This is another product that I have to keep applying, however I don't mind.  I love the scent and love how it makes my lips feel.

#5 NYX Chunky Dunk Hydrating Lippie in Berry Mojito
I think this is a new product from NYX.  I've gotten NYX products before and I've always been really happy with their line. I recently picked up this lip crayon and have only used it a few times, but have nothing but wonderful things to say.  It was a great price and very long lasting.  It's almost like a stain.  I will be going back to pick up more colors.  However, I'm obsessed with this color!  Great for spring and summer and really stands out!  This is one you have to pick up!

Bonus Fav
Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Coral Crush
I received this one in my May Birchbox.  Very smooth and leaves a nice tint.  I love the coral color.  Just something different than the standard pink or berry colors that are in right now.

Well, there you have it.  My favorite lippies!  What are some of your favorites?  What color are you rocking this spring/summer season?

Pucker Up!

Home Desk Organization

I am normally a very organized and clean person.  However, I recently noticed that my home desk was getting a little cluttered with random items.  I wanted to new look - one that was simple and less messy.

From a recent order from Birchbox.com  I received an acrylic organizer that has a cute diamond green pattern at the bottom.  I think it was suppose to be used for makeup, but I thought it would be a great desk organizer!

You can find these acrylic organizers at stores like Target, The Container Store, office supply stores, etc. There are a wide variety of them and you can tailor them to the size of your desk or how many items you want to put in them.  A simple serving tray would work as well, just to group everything together.  But, I do like the different compartments to separate the contents.

Let me know if you have any organizational tips for your home office.

Happy organizing!

April Birchbox Review

Birchbox brings so much joy to my life every month and this month was no different.  If anything it brought me even more joy!  Hands down the best box I've received yet this year!

If you don't know, Birchbox is a monthly subscription box of high end, hard-to-find in stores beauty and lifestyle products.  It's $10/month and worth every penny (most months that is).

I would have to say, that I have actually made additional purchases on their website and have always been happy with my orders and if not, their customer service team is fabulous!

Well, let's dive into this month's box...

As soon as I saw this on the info card I got excited!  First off, I love this color! It's not quite Tiffany Blue, but it will do...Can't wait to use it this spring!

Looking forward to trying this brand.  I have seen it alot on Birchbox.  I'm a  little worried about trying a clarifying shampoo, since it's known to strip hair, but I think once a week should be okay.  Any thoughts on this?
They also threw in a Reconstructing Masque-which I'm glad this was an extra, since it was a wonderful foil packet. :/

Decent size sample.  At first I thought this was a nice brown color, but it's actually a deep purple.  It glides on really smooth and it is really like a crayon.  I did purchase a full size one off the site, as well this week.  I decided to go with the brown.  Love it!

I've seen this brand before at Ulta, but never really looked into it.  Another decent size sample.  This goes on really smooth and leaves a silky feeling.  I'm planning on wearing this in place of my moisturizer in the summer, if I'm going to be outside.  However, I did also purchase the Coola Tinted BB Cream, that has SPF 30 for the summer.

Finally, the lifestyle extra-KIND Snacks-Healthy Grains Bar in Maple Pumpkin Seeds with Sea Salt.  Most likely won't be eating this, since I'm not really a fan of pumpkin.  Might look into other flavors of this though.

Overall, very satisfied with this box.  They seem to keep getting better and better every month. :)

Eating Healthy

If any of you know me, you know that I'm not a very healthy eater.  It's not that I eat a lot, however I don't always eat the right foods. I am determined to change that!

During the week, I normally just have a bowl of Special K for breakfast.  At lunch time, I typically don't eat, which is not good, but my schedule typically doesn't allow time to have a full meal.  I'm lucky if I get a piece of string cheese. Dinner just depends on the night.  I know I need to start cooking more. I normally cook about 3-4 times a week and eat out the rest.  Which not only takes a hit on my bank account, but my body also takes a hit.

One bad habit that I need to knock is drinking soda.  I typically have at least tumbler of water a day at my desk, but at lunch time I always seem to crack a can of Pepsi. Darn caffeine!

Another bad habit, is chocolate. It's all in moderation!

Here are some of my favorite recipes from Pinterest and YouTuber, Aspyn.

My Pinterest Food Page (note-not everything on here is healthy :)  Pick and choose what you think is healthy).

All I can say is bring on summer for seasonal fruit and farmers markets!  My favorite Farmers Market. Check it out if you are ever in Madison, Wisconsin during spring-fall on Saturdays.

Healthy eating everyone!

Influenster UniVoxBox Review

I recently sign aboard with a website called Influenster. Haven't heard of this site before?  They offer opportunities for consumers to review products currently on the market or getting ready to go to market.
You do have to be chosen to receive a box and I'm not really sure if there is a limit on how many boxes you can receive.  However, I did receive a box pretty quickly after taking a handful of surveys on their website on different industries that I'm interested in.

I was uber excited to receive this box. Overall, the products were so-so. Out of the six products I received, I will most like be using three of them or even thinking about going out and re-purchasing those three.

The theme of the box is "Back to School".  Included were full size products of the following:

Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-On Manicure
I will not be using or even trying these. I might be more open to them if they were in a solid color or even a pretty pattern.  However, the pattern is pretty tacky looking.  Maybe for a vacation to the beach, even that would be pushing it.  Just my personal opinion.

Expert Last Lip Color in Forever Fuchsia
I have tried the NYC brand before and have always been happy with the results of the products, however this color is just not flattering on me.  It reminds me the color of Lolli-tint by Benefit.  It would actually look nice on the cheeks. It does have a nice smell of bubblegum.  At age 30, I don't think it's something I could pull off.  I might look into other colors that NYC has to offer.

Pilot Acroball Purewhite
I use pens on a daily basis.  I like how it is a little larger than a stick pen and has a nice grip.  I have the starting stages of carpal tunnel, so I'm going to test it out and see how tight I grip the pen.  It might actually help.  The pen always came with a $1.50 coupon that I will be taking advantage of!  1st product of the box that I will get use out of!

Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation
I received the shade-Light Ivory, which is perfect for me.  I can't wait to try this product. I like a natural looking face and I feel that matte will do this, with using a beauty blender as an applicator. Very happy about this product.

Playtex Sport Fresh Balance
Not much to say about this, other than I will get use out of these.  It's a full size box, which is fantastic.  the third and final product of the box that I will be using.

Red Rose Real Tea Premium Water Enchancer
I recently gotten into tea, however not a fan of black tea.  Won't even be trying this product.  Hoping I can find someone to give it to. This also came with a $1.00 off coupon.

This was a great opportunity to try new products or products I typically wouldn't purchase myself or at least the brands of the products.

Looking forward to getting more boxes by Influenster!  Don't forget to sign up on their website for a chance to review products!

Spring Colors

Today was the first real day of spring here in Wisconsin.  Even though it's not going to last very long (stupid snow), it got me in the mood to do a little shopping and start the hunt for spring colors.

One thing that I absolutely love is pastel colored nail polish.  I have chosen my top 3.  If you haven't checked out my Pinterest page yet, you might know that I'm partial to one of the colors below....

Since, I'm on the topic of my favorite color (and if you don't know by now, it's mint!)  I came across the most beautiful purse in the word.  This purse was a little pricey, but felt like a spring/summer staple piece such as this, would be worth it.

Photo taken from Shopbop.com

I purchased this purse on Shopbop.com  Since the warehouse is based in Madison, I received my package pretty quickly.  I also treated myself to some Tory Burch flip flops that were on "clearance".

Next mission to find cute spring clothes!

Happy Spring!

Stitch Fix

A few months ago my co-worker was telling me about a website called Stitch Fix, where you could have your own personal shopper.  I thought to myself how cool is that!  Personally, I have a hard time finding clothes that actually fit or look good on me, so I was a little worried that it might be a waste of time and money. Yet I still took the chance!

There is a little bit of a wait when requesting your "fix", it's not something you can order and have within a week.  I think I scheduled my fix for about a month out. (I already want to schedule my next!)  There is a $20 "styling" fee, however that fee will be placed as a credit towards your purchase.  However, if you do not purchase anything in your fix, you do lose out on that money.

Prior to scheduling your fix you will fill out a short questionnaire about your style.  Styles you like, your body type, colors, etc.  One thing that I really liked about the questionnaire was the fact that you were able to put a link to one of your Pinterest pages, LinkedIn and Twitter account. My stylist stated that my Pinterest board
really helped her.  I would have to agree ! Tip-link a board that most matches your current style or a style you would like to try.

I received 5 pieces in my fix.  This is typical.  The price range on the items in my fix were anywhere from $48-$88.  Some things I did find a little pricey, but the way I look at it is the fact that they are unique pieces and overall it's just the excitement of getting clothes right to your door that were selected just for you! Tip-You can tailor your price range within your questionnaire, however the avg piece is normally around $65

Here is a collection of the pieces I received.  I ended up keeping the scarf, tank top and jeans. The other two items did not fit or look good on me.

Overall, I am very happy with Stitch Fix.  My "Stylist", Lisa did very well and I never thought I would end up purchasing 3 items.  The 3 items that I purchased ended up totaling $174. Which I know is a little on the pricey side.  The total fix would have been $210, since you do get 25% off when you purchase everything, but of course not everything worked out.

If you are interested in getting your own "fix" feel free to use my referral code!

Happy Shopping!

~Holsnicole

*This post is not sponsored by Stitch Fix.  I purchased my "fix" on my own and this is my personal opinion.

Beer Cheese Dip

Are you in a rush to make something for a party that starts in an hour?  Don't stress out! This dip is by far the easiest thing I have ever made.

I found the recipe on the Kraft Foods website, but I change a few things everytime I make it.

Photo Taken from the Kraft Foods Website

What you need:

1 pkg. (8oz) Cream Cheese, softened -I prefer whipped cream cheese
1/4 Cup Ranch Dressing -I just normally use Target brand
1 Cup  Shredded Cheddar Cheese -Yes, I will have to admit I normally put in more than a cup :)
1/4 Cup Beer - I've used anything from Miller Lite, New Glarus Spotted Cow (if you live in Wisconsin you know what this is), and even Canadian beer.
2 Green Onions, Chopped - Sometimes I leave these out.

What Do I Do Now:

Beat Cream Cheese and Dressing in a medium bowl with mixer until well blended.

Stir in remaining ingredients.

Refrigerate several hours or until chilled.

I normally serve with pretzels.  But this dip pretty much goes with anything.

Happy Dipping!

Target Beauty Box is Here!

Didn't know that Target offered a box of beauty deluxe to full size products?  Well, they do and it's awesome!

This is my second beauty box from Target and I have nothing but good things to say!  This one came a lot faster than the first one and overall better products. The one thing that I was a little disappointed about was the fact that they charged me shipping, after it stated on their site, that the beauty box had free shipping. Overall, still worth $11!

The box is nicely packaged in a sturdy, white box with a sleeve with Target logos on it.  When you open the box up, it has red tissue and a card (just like other subscription boxes) with product information and a coupon!  (least this coupon if valid for more than 2 weeks, unlike the last box).

So, you're wondering what came in this box.....well, here it is!

Toni&Guy Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray  2.5oz.

L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara  Full Size  (so excited to try this product!)

Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo 1.7oz.  (smells amazing)

CoverGirl Smoochies Sizzle Gloss in Tickled Pink  Full Size (love the lipstick, hope this is just as good)

Jergens BB Body Cream Light 2oz.  (Received this in my Birchbox-let me know if you are interested in trying this product, I would love to gift this to someone!)

I really hope that Target continues with these boxes.  I think its a great way to try out drug store type of products at a reasonable price.   Totally bummed though. I just looked online and the box is sold out, hopefully they will add more, so you guys can try it.

Nice work, Target!

March Birchbox Review

It's that time of month again....Birchbox time!  If you didn't know, I am dedicated to bringing you at least 12 months of Birchbox reviews. If you likes these and I'm overall happy with the products that I receive, I'll continue.

Just like every other month, I can never wait to see what comes in the box and I always check online before it arrives to see what's in store for me this month.  My goal next month is to not look! :)

Let's dive into it!

1. Air Repair-Rescue Balm-  Overall, the smell of this product is nasty! Very medicated.  I would never put this on my lips.  I put it on my elbows, just to try it out and had to put other lotion over it, just to cover the smell. I couldn't really tell a difference that any other lotion could have done.

2. Beauty Protector-Protect and Detangle- In love! This product smells just like the serum that I reviewed for Birchbox a few months ago. This product has so many benefits and use.  The size of this sample, is great for travel.  I think I might even purchase the full-size, just to keep this one for trips. At first I thought the pump was broke, but you really have to pump in order to get the product out.

3. Coola-Tinted Matte SPF 30 for Face-I've been wanting to try this product for a long time! Very light and smooth product. I love the fact that it's unscented. Can't wait to use it this summer under my foundation. It's SPF 30, which is fantastic.  I'll be spending a lot of time in the sun this summer, so it's perfect!  I will for sure be purchasing a full size of this and checking out their other products.

4. theBalm-How's 'Bout Them Apples? Cheek & Lip Cream-Another product that I was really excited about. I have a few products from theBalm and have always been satisfied with them. I received the color "Pie".  It's a pretty reddish-pink.  Most likely I'll be using this for my lips over my Marc Jacobs LipLock.  I don't know if I would wear this color on my cheeks, I'm much more of a rose gold color, soft pink type of girl.

Bonus Sample!
Jergens BB Body-This product was from the Birchbox Finds box. Decent size sample, at 1oz.  A product that I will most likely use on my upper arms to even out my skin tones. It also came with a $2 off coupon!  I found out I'll also be getting this product in my Target Beauty Box.  If anyone would like to try it, let me know.  I would be glad to gift my extra sample to someone.

Well, there you have it ladies, another month, another Birchbox! I was really excited and happy this month with what I received. I really enjoy getting products that you can't get at your local stores.

What did everyone else get this month?

Natural Eyes

Ever since the day that my mom brought a Mary Kay consultant into our house to show me techniques on how to wear makeup when I was younger, I have been in love with natural color eye shadows. I have hazel eyes, so natural tones look the best on me or so I think they do. It provides more of a classic look.

I recently purchased the Naked 3 palette.  I've regretted it ever since. The colors look horrible on me.  I thought I would try the palette out.  I should have just started with single eye shadows, prior to dropping dollars on it.

Last night I did an Ulta run.  I was looking at different palettes within the high end brands.  I came across the Pop Beauty - Bright Up Your Life - Naturally Bare palette. It has 10 shadows, that I fell in love with.  This palette was reasonably priced at about $24.  More than half the cost of the Naked palettes.

I used it for the first time this morning and so far I have been loving it! There was some fall out from the colors, so we'll see what the rest of today brings.  There is a mixture of matte and sparkle shades, but nothing too crazy.  The colors are super pigmented. There are so many different looks that you could do with this palette.  I feel that it was worth the money for sure. It also included a duo brush, which I haven't tried yet, but will for sure.

This palette will be great for travel, due to the fact that it does come with a brush and every color I would ever need is included. The only down fall of it, is the lid is plastic. I'm a little afraid it might crack.

Overall, very happy with this product and looking forward to trying more Pop Beauty products.

What are your favorite eye shadow palettes, brands, colors?

Themed Rooms

Most people normally have themed rooms or a color scheme in each room. When I moved into my apartment 6 years ago, I decided to turn my kitchen into a "drink theme" with using red accents.  About a year ago while on a weekend trip to Gurnee Mills, IL, I found a Chicago picture at their local Target, that was red and thought it would be perfect!

That kicked off my Chicago theme....

If you don't already know, I am obsessed with the City of Chicago. I've been on the hunt for other things to put in my kitchen.  I've found a really cute mug at Target recently and then also a bottle of vodka that is limited edition (took me forever to find it!)

(See the John Hancock stir sticks :) )

(Can't forget my Stanley Cup shot glass!)

Finally to tie in my love of hockey.  I found the following print at Poopsie's in Galena, IL.  I just have to get a frame for it, but I love how it has just a hint of red in it and from far away, you can't even tell that it has to do with hockey.

It's very easy to find a few key pieces to turn any room in your house into a theme.  I will always be on the hunt for Chicago things, but not cheesy tourist things.

What are some of your favorite themed rooms?

Sephora Haul

I've been stuck with the winter blues recently, so I decided to do a little beauty online shopping spree to prepare for spring (if it ever gets here!).

I stuck with some favorite brands and products and then also purchased a few new ones. I normally don't go this crazy with online shopping, but it actually felt good to get some new things and treat myself.

One item that I re-purchased was the Marc Jacobs Lip Lock Moisture Balm.  This has been my holy grail product this winter. I cannot say enough about this balm. It gives great protection, without having your lips feel greasy.  I guess the only downfall, is that there isn't too much product in the tube, so it makes it seem like you use it pretty fast.  It's well worth it though.  I keep mine at home, on my vanity.  It's too pricey to throw in my purse. http://bit.ly/1bX64me

Did I really need a new Beauty Blender?  No, but how could I pass up one in the color of the year!  It seems to have a different feel to it, than the original.  However when submerged under water it still doubles it size.  Can't wait to use it! http://bit.ly/1dgJn7b

Anti-Aging??  Come on! I'm only 30!  Yes, I broke down and picked up the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Anti-Aging. I've been lucky to not show too many signs of aging yet. However, I want to be pro-active.  When I twisted the cap off, I expected to have a wand to apply the product, but it looks like you just apply with your finger tip.  Not the cleanest way to do it, but hopefully it will do the trick! http://bit.ly/1fIS6zT

I normally don't spend a lot on nail polish, however last year I splurged on some Deborah Lippmann polish and decided it was time to purchase another one.  I love her polish and I'm a little bummed out, because I didn't take into consideration that I had already purchased a blue hue one from her. Oh well!  I wanted a great color for spring.  I picked up the shade-Blue Orchid. http://bit.ly/1fk0niC

Finally the last product that I picked up was a hair brush.  I've heard a lot of people talking about the "Wet Brush", however I couldn't find it anywhere around where I live, so I just decided to search for one on Sephora.  The original version didn't come up in the results, however the brand DryBar has one called "Lemon Drop".  This brush is amazing!  It can be used on both wet and dry hair.  Just the perfect detangler brush. http://bit.ly/1jY6pHS

I would have to say this was a very successful online shopping experience. I also got universal atomizer, make that 2 in fact!  Originally they are $16 or so.  These were on clearance for $7 each.  Unfortunately, I think they are sold out of the one in clearance, but still have the full price one in pink. http://bit.ly/1nX0Tm0

Let me know what beauty items you are picking up this spring.  Remember to always Treat Yo Self!

February Birchbox Review

A new month means a new Birchbox review!   Could this box get any better.  They surprise me every month!

This month Birchbox and US Weekly have teamed up to bring us red carpet products in their 'Step and Repeat' box.  My box felt a little on the light side this month, but I was still really happy with what I received and will continue my subscription next month.

Here is what was in my February box:

Coastal Scents-Revealed Eye Shadow Palette Sampler
Never really been a fan of these small samples that Coast Scents provides, however this month it was a quad and the colors are beautiful! They kind of remind me of colors from the Naked 2 Palette.  The full side Revealed Eye Palette is $34-worth checking out.

Fekkai-Brilliant Glossing Shampoo &Conditioner
Both samples came in the size 2 fl. oz.  Decent to get a good feel for the product and also great for traveling.  I don't have a lot of flyways, but feel this could bring shine to my hair and a nice texture in the winter months.

Harvey Prince-Hello Fragrance
At first I didn't know if I liked this scent.  It isn't the normal scents I go for, however the more I opened the packaging, the more I enjoyed it. It has lemon, mandarin, and grapefruit, forsythia and plumeria.  This might just be the next perfume I purchase!

32 Oral Care-Effervescent Breath Crystals
They seem a little likepop rocks.  However, I'm looking forward to trying these.  The spearmint ones  smell amazing!

Check out Birchbox.com for great products and their monthly subscription service for both men and women!

Shopping Haul-Galena, IL Edition!

This past weekend I spent time in Galena, IL.  I had never been there before, but my mom suggested it, as one of our seasonal weekend trips away.  I didn't know what to think at first.  When I started to google shopping in the area, I didn't think that I would find much, let alone buy much...boy was I wrong!

They had such cute stores!  There were just a few that I really fell in love with.  To name a few: Poopsies and  Simply Elegant Boutique

At Poopsies I picked up two Ginger Snaps for my bracelet.  If you don't know what Ginger Snaps are-check them out!  Great interchangeable bracelets, rings and necklaces.  I also got some cute greeting cards (you know I'm a sucker for those) and I also special ordered a Chicago Blackhawks print.  (Great service-purchased late on Friday, shipped out today and with reasonable shipping). They have a website that you can purchase some goodies on.

Simply Elegant Boutique was by far my favorite!  On Friday afternoon we went there and they had handbags for 40% off.  I picked up a brown crossbody bag for only $37!  I also got a really pretty scarf in some of my favorite colors and a brushed silver star bracelet.  We went back on Saturday and noticed that they carried the brand Free People-so I coped another scarf that is perfect for all seasons!

Overall, if you are ever in or around Galena, IL please check out there downtown area.  Great shopping and restaurants!

Can't wait to go back sometime!
